Position title: GL Accountant

Location: Tilburg, NL

Reports to: General Ledger Team Leader

Contract type: Permanent, full-time, hybrid working system

Your Role & Team in a Nutshell

As a General Ledger (GL) Accountant, your chief responsibility lies in month-end reporting of all Newell Brands European divisions. Your main focus will be timely and adequate reporting in line with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.

You will be part of an international team of four people, collaborating actively to ensure all month-end closing activities are completed.

We will help you achieve your goals and develop by providing regular feedback and access to online training courses.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed asset additions and depreciation, bank fees and other miscellaneous transactions.

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and balance sheet analysis for accounts including cash, accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, other assets and other liabilities.

  • Maintain the Customer program subledgers, analyze the P&L and Balance sheet movements, collaborate with business finance and reconcile the accounts.

  • Support the General Ledger team by actively participating in the monthly, quarterly and year end closing process

  • Partner with different departments within the organization to ensure accurate and timely reporting of expenses and accruals

  • Assist in supporting internal and external audit requests as needed

  • Submit monthly cash flows

  • Review large and/or complex entries for process improvement opportunities

  • Participate in projects

  • Guide, train and support accounting associates through the mentioned major responsibilities and provide the feedback during the performance management process.

What You’ll Need

Minimum:

  • Financial and/or Management Accountant with an accountancy degree or equivalent accountancy qualifications (US GAAP/SOX knowledge is a preferred)

  • Proven accounting experience (within an international or multi-subsidiary environment would be advantageous).

  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
