Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Manager is the Department's principal for the education of Department staff, by developing, implementing and regularly providing educational programs for pharmacists and other professional and technical hospital staff; providing or assuring the provision of education regarding therapies, medication use, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, professional quality standards, and other appropriate topics to all members of the hospital community, including developing, preparing, and presenting the related materials. The Clinical Manager as required, prepares, develops, selects, presents, implements, and tracks the competency assessments of Department staff to help assure the pharmacist and pharmacy technician can demonstration the required skills and knowledge. The Clinical Manager, designs, develops or selects, implements, conducts and/or assures the performance and completion of medication use evaluations, the monitoring and reporting of adverse drug reactions, and other medication use activities. The Clinical Manager assures the completion, documentation, evaluation of daily clinical interventions activities, compiles and reports data as appropriate.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy, required

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree, required

  • Completion of a General Practice PGY1 Accredited ASHP Pharmacy residency, required. At least 3 years of previous experience in a general acute care hospital clinical practice may be considered in lieu of residency experience

  • Knowledge of licensure and regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and professional standards of practice for hospital pharmacy, required

  • Current BPS Board Certification, required. Certification preferred in an acute care specialty

  • Current licensure as pharmacist by state of California, required

  • Completion of specialty PGY2 accredited residency preferred; most desirable experience is in acute care specialties of critical care, emergency medicine, and antibiotic therapy

  • Previous experience as clinical coordinator, preferred

  • Skill with use of Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required; skill with use of Access and Publisher preferred

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, required
