Description
We are looking for an experienced Controller to take charge of our client's financial operations in The Dalles, Oregon. This contract role requires an individual with a strong background in accounting and finance, particularly in nonprofit or goverment settings. The ideal candidate will oversee critical financial processes, ensure accurate reporting, and play a key role in budget preparation and management.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the creation and finalization of the annual budget, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.
• Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes.
• Supervise payroll processes, ensuring compliance and timeliness.
• Support the organization in transitioning to improved financial systems as needed.
• Maintain compliance with government regulations and nonprofit financial standards.
• Provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making and long-term planning.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure the organization's financial health and operational efficiency.
Requirements
• Proven experience in accounting and financial management, ideally within nonprofit or government organizations.
• Strong knowledge of the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close.
• Demonstrated ability to create, manage, and finalize budgets for approval by leadership and boards.
• Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations and preparing accurate financial statements.
• Familiarity with payroll processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple financial tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills to present financial information to stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
