Advisor, Commodity Manager, Software Procurement

What you’ll achieve

Contract management activities with moderate to high risk to Dell EMC business units. Contract activity may be non-routine and require development of specialized contracts and techniques to accomplish business goals and objectives. Generally involves independent judgment and analysis of significant issue identification and resolution. May require assessment of potential deviations from established standards.

As an Advisor, Commodity Management you will be responsible for understanding the business case, overall total cost of ownership, and possible licensing/distribution issues for Third Party Software, Developer Tools, and Services requirements. Be the focal point for all communication with legal, finance and business teams for resolution of contract issues. You will work as domain expert on selected areas and issues to develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiation team on complex contractual issues. Work in partnership with Corporate Legal to mitigate legal risks in support of business unit goals and objectives

You will:

Review and develop complex Third Party Software, Developer Tools, and Services requirements and agreements and prepares specialized and/or non-routine contracts, and contract modifications. Analyzes significant, and/or unique contract requirements, special provisions, business risks, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and corporate policies and business unit procedure. Provides contractual guidance to business units for requirements documentation.

Essential Requirements

  • 2-4 years related experience or specific Technology, Procurement experience.

  • Bachelor’s (non-technical) required, MBA desired

  • Proven experience in developing software licensing strategies, as well as developing, negotiating and closing complex contracts

  • Experience summarizing business contractual terms for clients, such as license rights, product entitlements, and use restrictions.

Desirable Requirements

  • Ability to establish effective partnerships internally and externally, at all organizational levels and across boundaries

  • Contract administration experience

  • Excellent analytical skills, well-organized and detail-oriented.
