Amazon Senior Applied Scientist, Global Logistics in Tempe, Arizona

Our team's stated mission is to "Empower aggressive, yet responsible data-driven decisions for our global supply chain operations by leveraging cutting-edge forecasting techniques and simulations." International inbound supply chain forecasting at Amazon Global Logistics (AGL) is a critical function that enables us to meet customer demand while minimizing risks and maximizing efficiency. Our team must keep pace with the ever-increasing complexities of a dynamically evolving global logistics transportation network and build counterfactual simulation models (CSM) to anticipate and respond to potential disruptions proactively.

Utilizing Amazon Web Services, you will formulate research questions about supply chain dynamics, build state-of-the-art forecasting models, and integrate these models into our operational systems. You will participate in the Amazon analytics community and mentor data scientists & business intelligence engineers with a strong interest in and knowledge of supply chain optimization. Your work will directly impact our global operations and logistics, and you will measure the impact using rigorous quantitative methods. We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented applied scientist who has experience building mission-critical, high-volume applications that drive operational excellence.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Bellevue, WA, USA | Tempe, AZ, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience

  • PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience

  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.

  • Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
