Job Description
We are seeking skilled Pipe Welders for our operations in the Gulf Marine Shipyard. We have multiple openings available, both for day and night shifts. Candidates will be required to pass a comprehensive weld test demonstrating proficiency in various welding techniques.

Responsibilities
Complete an open-root weld test on a ⅜” plate with a ⅛” gap for both SMAW (⅛” 7018 rods) and flux-core processes.
Prepare coupons by wire wheeling any rust or mill scale, and tack backing tabs onto each end of plates.
Apply weldment to backing tabs to ensure stability during welding.
Mount coupons to the welding test booth jig using nut and bolt attachments.
Perform root pass with continuous weld puddle, ensuring no porosity, slag inclusion, undercut, or lack of penetration.
Back-gouge test plates and clean slag from the face of the back-gouge using wire wheel only.
Re-mount coupons after back-gouging and perform capping ensuring weldment is flushed.

Work Environment
The work environment is outdoor in the Gulf Marine Shipyard located on the Port of Tampa. Employees are expected to work 6 or 7 days per week with potential for overtime. There are two shifts available: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm to 1:00 am. The site features 4 dry docks.

This is a Contract position based out of Tampa, Florida.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
