The Spring of Tampa Bay Facilities Maintenance Technician in Tampa, Florida

Must have the following to apply:

  • Minimum of threeyears of responsible experience in residential facilities maintenance
  • Detail-orientationto perform facility inspections
  • Mechanical skills and manual dexterity
  • Ability to perform tasks with tools in compliance with standards/values
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Applied knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of other building trades preferred
  • Computer skills specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to use Maintenance Care software program to maintain facilities records and communicate status of maintenance requests to staff
  • Due to the nature of the job, must speak, read, and write in English
  • Specialized or technical educational requirements:
    • Training and certification in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and/or air conditioning repair preferred
    • Ability to document information in written form using computer software is required
  • Certification or licensing requirements:
    • State Driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report required
  • Specialized equipment or machines used in the course of the duties of the position.
    • General working knowledge of hand and electrical tools and equipment used in the course of maintaining facilities and kitchen operations

Job Description:

Responsible for general maintenance/repairs and ground services for all locations.

The Facilities Maintenance Worker performs or schedules a vendor to perform all maintenance, repair, and janitorial activities for the company's residential and non-residential program locations in the County. Includes repairs, preventative maintenance, and new installations/construction performed according to agency policies and procedures to ensure an experience in compliance with standards/values for staff and residents.

Responds to service requests within 24 hours, completing those deemed to be life-safety or emergencies as soon as possible

Regularly walks the agency's properties to identify items in need of repair/preventative maintenance and necessary improvements

Periodically coordinates with a vendor or performs as needed the required actions necessary for the agency's 12 apartment units to be ready for new residents

Performs minor repairs such as repairing broken locks, making keys, filling gaps in walls, painting, repairing outdoor structures such as fencing, etc.

Cleaning/disinfecting of apartments and resident rooms at shelter

Day to day repairs called in by staff or residents

On a daily basis, diagnoses/performs or schedules vendor to perform maintenance/repairs to the following:

  • Electrical and plumbing
  • A/C and heating systems
  • Security camera and swipe card/entry systems
  • Appliances (both gas and electric)
  • Stairs, gates, fences, patios, railings, roofing, gutters, fasteners
  • Tile, carpet, flooring, walls, ceiling fans, interior/exterior lights
  • Doors, cabinets, windows, sliding glass doors, closets
  • Water heaters (both gas and electric)
  • Door deadbolts, hardware, and locks
  • Ceiling leaks, drywall repairs, painting, lawn care, cleaning common areas, pressure washing

Maintains a work area in compliance with standards/values and maintenance shop

Maintains facilities and grounds, both on an as-needed basis when staff and participants identify issues and with regularly scheduled maintenance tasks
