Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.

We are the Analysis Services Engine team, the core component behind the Power BI service. Our cutting-edge analytics engine serves as the foundation for the Power BI product family, as well as SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and Azure Analysis Services (AAS).

As the adoption of the Analysis Services Engine soars across these platforms, its future shines ever brighter. Our team’s primary focus is on the continuous enhancement of the AS engine, along with the development of components that seamlessly integrate this engine into Microsoft Fabric, an end-to-end, unified analytics platform that brings together all the data and analytics tools that organizations need.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality software to enhance the availability, reliability, scalability, latency, security, resiliency, and efficiency of our services/products.

  • Engage in collaboration with internal Microsoft teams and Power BI partners to innovate and integrate cutting-edge technology.

  • Craft and implement automated unit and integration tests to ensure robustness and reliability.

  • Take the lead in debugging and troubleshooting across the full stack of our services/products, and conduct thorough analysis in the event of an outage.

  • Develop software solutions and build automation to address and resolve issues permanently.

  • Actively participate in architectural discussions and code reviews, triage bugs/issues alongside feature teams, and support informed decision-making that aligns with both business and engineering objectives.

  • Provide exceptional support to our customers, ensuring their success and satisfaction with our products/services.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • 1+ year(s) of experience in cloud distributed services

  • 1+ year(s) of C++/C# programming experience
