Job Description
Your role:
The Executive Legal Manager will lead the legal function within a dynamic and fast-paced pharmaceutical environment. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive expertise in navigating the complex legal and regulatory landscape of the pharmaceutical industry in Brazil.
As a key member of the executive committee, the Manager plays a strategic role by proactively providing innovative strategies to the business, proactive legal guidance, contributing to business decisions. A deep understanding of the business and a creative, curious approach to finding innovative solutions are essential.
You will be responsible for:
Strategic Business Partner: As a key member of the Affiliate Management Team, act as a key advisor to the leadership team, providing insights and personal perspectives on business strategies and decisions.
Development and Strategy: Collaborate with regional leadership to develop new strategies for the affiliate, navigating the company's matrix organization and participating in cross-functional global initiatives.
· Strategic Legal Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for all legal matters affecting the company, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with Brazilian laws and regulations.
· Department Supervision: Oversee the legal department in Brazil, managing a team of lawyers and legal professionals (contractors and/or outsourced services) to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
· Legal Strategy: Define and implement legal strategies aligned with functional and business goals while minimizing legal risks. This includes analyzing complex legal issues related to company operations and offering sound legal advice.
· Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for major contracts, safeguarding the company’s interests, and providing legal support in business transactions and corporate operations.
· Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations in Brazil, assessing their impact on company operations and business priorities, and recommending actions to ensure compliance.
· Agility: Continuously working to keep the department modern, agile, and free of unnecessary bureaucracy. Responsible for the legal processes & policies under the legal department
· Litigation Management: Oversee and manage litigation and dispute resolution processes effectively, collaborating with external legal counsel when necessary.
· External Representation: Represent the company in external legal matters, including litigation and negotiations with government authorities and professional associations.
· Stakeholder Relations: Establish and maintain strong technical relationships with external counsel, regulatory agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
· Industry Engagement: Participate in industry associations to stay connected with sector developments and drive meaningful changes.
· Compliance and Ethics: Adhere to internal company policies and procedures, as well as all applicable legal and ethical requirements. Integrity and ethics are fundamental, ensuring the company remains in compliance with Brazilian laws and regulations.
· Risk Management: Develop and implement legal risk management strategies to minimize potential exposures, offering expert advice on a wide range of legal issues related to operations and corporate governance.
· Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals (within or outside own organization), whenever applicable, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. ·

Qualifications
Pre-requirements:
Graduation in Law
Post graduation is desirable
Fluent in English
Desirable Spanish
Solid experience in pharma industry
Previous Experience as Manager
