SUNY Upstate Medical University Server Administrator- Security in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Server Administrator's primary responsibility is to protect critical systems and data through monitoring, security update deployment, vulnerability remediation, and proactive maintenance.

Additional duties include the administration and support of the Windows and VMware environment, including requirements analysis, server deployment, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related area and three (3) years relevant experience or Associates degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related area and five (5) years relevant experience along with strong analytic, interpersonal skills and customer service orientation required.

Familiarity with data networking concepts and associated technologies like DNS

**Candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree in a computer related field (or an Associate’s in a computer related field and a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience) may be considered for appointment to a lower level position at a commensurate salary.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have experience in a healthcare environment and can demonstrate familiarity with data networking concepts, including associated technologies like DNS. They will have experience with virtualization platforms and/or cloud technologies, Active Directory, and shell scripting (bash, Powershell, etc.).

The preferred candidate will have experience with patch management solutions.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday, 8:00a-5:00p
