Description
The Crisis Respite Clinician is the treatment team lead for up to six youth staying in the Children’s Crisis Residence. These responsibilities include: assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, therapy intervention, and discharge planning. Clinical responsibilities are throughout a youth’s stay, 1-28 days, and can extend past discharge for up to 90 days. The Crisis Respite Clinician also functions as the co-lead of the Children’s Crisis Residence. These responsibilities include: partnering with supervisory staff members, educating the milieu staff on mental health topics, directing behavior support provided by milieu staff members, and contributing to policy and process development. This position is scheduled in a manner that best accommodates client, department, and agency business needs, typically Monday thru Friday.
Responsibilities:
Perform clinical assessments and offer diagnostic insight to families and other stakeholders.
Develop and execute treatment plans.
Monitor and evaluate treatment plan implementation.
Provide individual and family therapy during the youth’s stay and after they are discharged.
Provide therapeutic support during crisis.
Collaborate with all individuals/agencies associated with youth. This includes inter- and intra-agency meetings or proceedings.
Complete contemporaneous documentation utilizing an Electronic Health Record system.
Function as part of program leadership. This includes contributions to the training and development of paraprofessional staff members.

Required Education and Experience :
Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution, required. Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited institution, may be considered.
License to practice therapy by New York State, preferred. License-eligible applicants may be considered.
Essential Job Qualifications:
Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance.
Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time
Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion.
Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.
Varying levels of travel as determined by departmental needs may be required with this position.
