Syracuse University Assistant Director for Health Promotion in Syracuse, New York
The Barnes Center at The Arch is Syracuse University's integrated health and wellness center which incorporates health promotion, counseling, health, and recreation. As part of the Health Promotion team, the Assistant Director is responsible for efforts related to student mental wellness and substance use harm reduction. The Assistant Director serves on the Health Promotion Leadership team and supervises two professional staff who have responsibility for mental wellness programming and student peer educators.
The Assistant director supports holistic student wellness by working as part of a team that has oversight for student mental wellness programming and partnership with academic units; working directly with students and influencing the environments in which they live and learn.
By addressing the intersection of mental wellness and substance use, the Assistant Director has oversight for content creation and delivery of substance use harm reduction education, recovery ally trainings, coordinating and facilitating sanction-related programs, serving as the campus liaison for the state Opioid Overdose Prevention Program, and assisting in the compilation of the biennial review for compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act.
