Amazon Military Program Manager , Global Military Affairs in Sydney, Australia

Amazon's inclusive eXperiences and Technology Communities (IXT Communities) is seeking a delivery-oriented Program Manager to join our Global Military Affairs team in AJPC. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and hands on experience working with the military community and be a self starter with the ability to tackle ambiguity.

As a Military Program Manager, you must be able to develop and implement innovative strategies to aid our delivery to the military community, despite ambiguous, undefined problem statements. You will own large problems and operate from the tactical to the strategic as you manage the life-cycle of complex initiatives.


This role is flexible to be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. Our team operates out of our fabulous CBD office conveniently located near transportation.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage multiple program areas - define project plans, assemble resources, manage implementation activities, track deliverables, and develop processes associated with program roll-out and ongoing support.

  • Plan, develop and execute programs across the full military employee life cycle.

  • Identify new opportunities to expand military initiatives across Amazon in AJPC— determine appropriate roles, processes, stakeholders, and business partners.

  • Write clear and concise documents expressing complex concepts in a logical manner. Able to present decisions to leaders across a diversity of areas.

  • Create, maintain and disseminate resources in a variety of formats across all levels.

  • Think big to identify the root cause of problems through an expanded holistic view and long term perspective.

  • Be comfortable operating at speed to ensure forward momentum, fast iteration and incorporate new learnings.

  • Represent Amazon at engagement events and other public forums — plan and execute military employment and community engagement events.

  • Connect and inspire people to drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple groups with competing priorities.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal listening, communicating, influencing and negotiating skills coupled with ability to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the business.

  • Experience speaking to large groups in public forums.

  • The ability to travel 25 to 40% of the time.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge and experience working with the Military Community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
