The Fire Systems Tester is responsible for conducting thorough testing, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection systems in compliance with the relevant Australian standards and regulations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and functionality of fire systems, contributing to the overall fire prevention and protection measures within various premises.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine testing and inspections of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, extinguishers, and emergency lighting.

  • Conduct comprehensive functional testing of fire systems, ensuring all components are functioning correctly and in accordance with Australian standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with relevant documentation standards.

  • Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and completion of scheduled maintenance tasks.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations related to fire protection systems.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in testing and inspecting fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, extinguishers, and emergency lighting.

  • Understanding of relevant Australian standards and regulations governing fire protection systems, such as AS 1851:2012 and AS 1670:2018.

  • Strong technical skills in troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in fire systems, and ability to provide appropriate recommendations for repairs or replacements.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and maintenance activities.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also being a collaborative team player.

  • Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, as required for inspecting and testing fire systems.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various locations within Sydney for site visits.

  • Relevant qualifications in fire systems testing, such as a Certificate III in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing
