Overview
Is responsible for all areas of Employee and Industrial Relations, working closely with People, Legal, Ethics and Compliance, Payroll and business leaders to achieve positive outcomes for the company. Provides advice and guidance to drive the implementation of an effective ER strategy.
In partnership with Legal and E&C, is responsible for ongoing compliance of employment laws and regulations and maintains effective communication with relevant industry stakeholders and unionised employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Supports People Business Partners and Business Leaders in effectively manage ER cases such as, but not limited to Performance Management, Grievances, Misconduct, Investigations and any employee disputes.
Supports People Business Partners and Legal to design, develop and implement ER related strategies that support business plans and protects CBRE from ER risk.
Provides advice and guidance on relevant legislation and industrial instruments such as modern awards and enterprise bargaining agreements. Responsible for ensuring employee entitlements are aligned with this framework.
Works closely with the QHSE team to ensure a safe working environment for employees.
Assists Business Leaders with Union management, including entitlement enquiries and disputes to mitigate the risk of industrial action.
Develops, implements, and manages company's employment related compliance activities.
Coach managers on policy, procedures and best practices in enhancing capabilities and confidence of leaders in managing ER matters.
Partners with People Centers of Excellence and People Business Partners in compliance requirements, audits implementation, monitors progress and responds to audits.
Contributes in developing and maintaining the People Policies and Procedures and Employee Handbook. Ensures policies and practices are consistent with GWS objectives and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Assists in managing the People investigations process for matters of serious misconduct and conducts investigations.
Completes ER reporting to identify trends in the business.
Person Specification/Requirements:
Beyond experience, the right personal style and attitude are critical to success in this role.
A hands-on, commercial and practical specialist in ER, who enjoys working closely with clients, account leaders and local People teams
Results oriented with strong ability to influence and secure constructive outcomes to complex and sensitive matters whilst protecting CBRE and its partners
A true team player and collaborator, translating prior knowledge and experience into strong and productive relationships internally and externally
Organizational Awareness – Having and using knowledge of systems, situations, pressures, and culture within the company to identify potential organizational problems and opportunities; perceiving the impact and the implications of decisions on other components of the company as well as the impact on investors, customers, and clients.

Able to effectively and constructively influence others in continuously improving the internal ER capability.
Understand and comply with all HSEQ arrangements / instructions

Report any unsafe situation to your line manager
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
A strong track record of ER case management in Australia in highly commercial and multi-national environments, interfacing with external clients, managers, employees, legal stakeholders and government bodies. Exposure to New Zealand ER landscape an advantage
Demonstrated experience in blue and white collar workplaces, with a particular focus on award-based employees operating in shift work environments
Experience operating and engaging at a regional leadership stakeholder level
Project/program leadership experience, with an emphasis on leading in a matrix environment and with virtual teams preferred.
