GE Vernova Commercial Proposal Manager in Sydney, Australia

Job Description Summary

The Proposals Manager, reporting the Commercial Operations & Risk Leader in APAC, plays a pivotal role in leading the development of high-quality bid submissions to GE Vernova Power Conversion and Storage clients in the region.

The Proposal Manager is responsible for all aspects of assigned opportunities, including proposal development, commercial risk management and mitigation, customer negotiations, internal process adherence, approvals, order booking and handover.

This is a critical role for the business, with great exposure to senior leadership and the global organisation as you ensure all risks are appropriately managed whilst supporting the sales organisation to secure profitable, executable business.

Job Description

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Lead proposal preparation, and ensure alignment to commercial processes, securing and recording all approvals prior to submission.

  • Collaborate effectively with all functions across global regions and businesses to ensure timely submission of high quality proposals to GE Vernova clients and other business units.

  • Work with the sales team to develop winning strategies.

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality submissions to the customer that reflect the winning strategy.

  • Develop and seek approval for an appropriate and compliant contractual structure to support the proposal.

  • Drive early engagement both internally and alongside the sales team, with the client.

  • Review customer terms and conditions, create deviation lists according to GE Vernova contractual standards and seek approvals according the defined processes.

  • Lead commercial negotiation with customers, supported by regional legal counsel and commercial leadership as required.

  • Ensure seamless hand-over from tender phase to execution on award, involving the project management organisation prior to handover as necessary.

  • Own order booking process ensuring full compliance with process.

  • Drive implementation of proposal standards and new commercial models to maximize orders volume and market reach.

  • Contribute to quality initiatives to drive process rigor, simplification and improved customer outcomes through sales & bidding phases.

  • Reinforce application of commercial processes, whilst adopting lean principles to challenging and develop those processes as necessary.

  • Maintain knowledge of market trends, customer requirements, competitor actions and customer base.

  • Support the sourcing team in the tendering phase and through to execution, preparing pass-through terms and conditions for subcontracts and supplier purchase orders.

Qualifications and Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline.

  • Minimum 10 years of Sales or Commercial Operations experience.

  • Significant experience in reviewing and negotiating contracts with external customers.

  • Capability to manage multiple stakeholders across a complex matrix organisation

  • Strong communication skills, with English as a first language.

As GE Vernova is a global organization, working across different time zones, and monitoring, reading and responding to contact outside normal working hours can be expected.
