Meta Systems Engineering Leader, Smart Glasses in Sunnyvale, California

Summary:

We are seeking a technical leader who will be responsible for driving smart glasses product development and scaling across the Meta Smart Glasses portfolio. Reporting directly to the Head of Hardware, this individual contributor will collaborate with cross-functional leaders in hardware, system architecture, silicon, product management, go-to-market, partnerships, XR-Tech, software, manufacturing, and operations. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in developing scalable platform strategies, proliferation playbooks, demonstrating technical depth, embracing ambiguity and possessing interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Skills:

Systems Engineering Leader, Smart Glasses Responsibilities:

  1. Establish Smart Glasses portfolio and roadmap strategies to meet business goals while balancing external partnerships and internal development requirements.

  2. Establish proliferation strategy across smart glasses to demonstrate economy of scale with faster development timelines and fewer resources.

  3. Collaborate with partners to build a scalable software platform that enables subsystem tuning, self serviceability and validation for proliferation roadmap.

  4. Drive supply chain and infrastructure technical capabilities in the smart glasses industry, for product development leverage.

  5. Establish and maintain strategic relationships with external partners to deliver co-branded products and drive the hardware roadmap.

  6. Build strategic relationships with product peers in engineering, operations, business, design, and user research teams to define product requirements.

  7. Conduct detailed analyses and trade-off studies to optimize hardware platform scaling and establish a development plan that serves the portfolio.

  8. Communicate technology and product strategy effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.

  9. Collaborate effectively across all levels of management and individual contributors, both internally and externally.

  10. Guide management and partner teams on long-term technology investments.

  11. Drive business results, optimize overall business objectives, and foster an environment of collaboration and innovation.

  12. Develop and manage partnerships with key industry players to enhance product capabilities and market reach.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or relevant industry experience.

  2. 10+ years of experience in hardware product development, with a proven track record of successfully shipping products to market.

  3. Experience with multiple full life-cycle product launches.

  4. Proven leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional hardware and technology teams throughout the entire product development cycle.

  5. Experience working with Product Development engineers, Product Managers, Researchers, and other hardware/software cross-functional teams.

  6. Effective communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts and drive alignment on product requirements and architecture.

  1. MS/PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering.

  2. 15+ years of direct relevant experience.

  3. Previous AR, VR, or Wearables product experience.

  4. Experience shipping complex products at scale with displays/optics components.

Public Compensation:

$204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
