The R&D Operations, Sr. Scientist, Pre-Clinical is responsible for developing study plan and provide recommendation for clinical trial comparator strategies for prototype NPD assays. The ideal candidate will have experience in product commercialization, expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts (such as nucleic acid extraction and real time PCR), and experience with panel prep for contriving clinical specimens.
This position is part of the Global R&D Operations and Enablement department and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA as an on-site role. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead and execute contrived panel preparation for pre-clinical studies, such as limit of detection, inclusivity and exclusivity and competitive interference.
Drive results to support decision for FDA pre-submission for comparator selection and de-risk clinical trials.
Collaborate with R&D assay development, clinical affairs, system integration team and external clinical sites.
The essential requirements of the job include:
High-level of organization to streamlined pre-clinical logistics and site management.
Collaborate assay development and develop robust study designs.
Ability to manage complex data sets and interpret results in real-time to proactively identify performance gaps.
Proven track record of interfacing between cross functional teams (R&D, engineering, production, regulatory and quality).
Bachelor’s degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 0-2 years of related work experience.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Strong problem-solving skills and agile to adapt of scope changes.
Experience in developing molecular diagnostic assay products in micro-fluidic assay for sexual health, respiratory or blood culture panels.
Experience with culturing and propagating micro-organisms.

The salary range for this role is $112,000 to $150,000 USD annually. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
