Data is at the heart of it all. Business Intelligence Engineers build world class business intelligence, analytics, and reporting systems for the Web and Knowledge Services (WKS) organization. You will be a critical part of this journey. You will be accountable for establishing performance measures and analytics to support key business decisions, facilitate creation of KPIs, define standards on measurement, reporting and reviewing them and keep performance of WKS services on track. You will work in an ambiguous, constantly changing environment and will be expected to balance detailed execution with speed and possess solid collaborative skills. You should have excellent business and communication skills and be able to work with various business owners. This position involves regular communication with senior management on project status and risks. Cross-team coordination, project management, and executive presentation skills are essential.

As the team's Senior BI Engineer, you'll help drive our organization to be data driven. We want to make business decisions, informed with data. We're looking for someone that can help develop and engineer our data pipeline, reports and visualization to help drive our business decisions. We're looking for someone that can take OWNERSHIP, DIVE DEEP and discover new insights.

The role involves part ad-hoc analysis (collaborating with Product Managers to make business decisions informed by data), part building new tools/techniques and maintaining KPI, and part collaborating with engineering to instrument and architect experiments and features, while driving the metrics and data collection necessary to make them successful. A successful candidate will need to be self-sufficient and resourceful. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow themselves into senior roles within Amazon.

The ideal candidate actively seeks to understand Amazon core business values and initiatives, and translate those into forward looking solutions. They will be comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-tasked, high-energy environment and will display creative and analytical problem solving skills. They person will possess a proven track record of delivering large analytics systems and leading analytics development and deliver with high levels of performance. The ability to prioritize multiple deliverables to meet customer and business needs is critical for this role.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • 10+ years of professional or military experience

  • Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
