Required Skills:

Production Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, design, create, modify, and/or test software services to ensure optimal performance and capacity for growth.

  2. Own back-end data warehouse services, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, and infrastructure components to ensure services run without incident.

  3. Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the problems in real time in highly complex software systems.

  4. Serve as an escalation contact for service incidents.

  5. Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

  6. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Computer Networking, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field. Position also requires completion of a university-level course/research project/internship/thesis, or 6 months of experience in the following:

    1. UNIX or Linux operating system fundamentals
    1. TCP/IP network fundamentals
    1. Coding in at least one of the following higher-level programming languages: PHP, Python, C++, or Java
    1. Software frameworks and APIs
    1. Performing 'guerilla capacity planning' for internet service architectures
    1. Internet service architectures (such as load balancing, LAMP, or CDN’s)
    1. Configuring and maintaining applications using at least one of the following: web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems, or messaging systems
    1. Network protocols including at least one of the following: NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP
    1. Maintaining web-based applications using at least one of the following: Apache, Memecached, or Squid
    1. Storage Systems including NFS
    1. Network Management tools like DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, or SNMP
    1. Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues ranging from low-level hardware issues to large scale failures within datacenter clusters.

Public Compensation:

$221,596/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits
