L.A. Gauge Company Production Planner / Scheduler in Sun Valley, California

Key Responsibilities

  • Dynamic Scheduling: Efficiently manage customer jobs, crafting requirements based on real-time inventory data.

  • Engineering Excellence: Apply cutting-edge Industrial Engineering practices to assess process constraints and recommend redesigns for enhanced productivity.

  • Collaborative Innovation: Work hand-in-hand with the management team and shop floor personnel to implement continuous improvement initiatives and drive operational excellence.

  • Empowerment through Training: Provide comprehensive training to production personnel, ensuring mastery of scheduling tools for optimized performance.

  • ERP Expertise: Collaborate seamlessly with production to meet and exceed customer requirements through effective use of the Epicor ERP system.

  • Streamlined Operations: Conduct thorough reviews of planning reports, proactively identifying shortages and initiating necessary actions to maintain smooth operations.

  • Agile Execution: Determine precise production requirements and expedite orders/jobs as needed to maintain workflow integrity.

  • Customer-Centric Support: Support sales staff by providing vital customer service functions, including generating customer-facing schedules, seamless order processing, and shipment verification.

  • Judicious Execution: Exercise sound judgment within established procedures to ensure timely and effective actions.

  • Safety: Compliance with safety standards and policies will be graded as part of job performance.

    Additional Responsibilities

  • Efficiency through Automation: Utilize ERP systems to automatically generate manufacturing work orders, streamlining operations and reducing manual effort.

  • Transparency Reporting: Deliver insightful status reports on production progress, customer information, and materials inventory, fostering informed decision-making.

  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing finished goods inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and meet customer demand.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Possess a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in production planning & control, operations scheduling, and shop floor management, showcasing proficiency and reliability.

  • Certification: Hold certifications in production planning and scheduling, with expertise in related topics like demand forecasting and master production scheduling, demonstrating commitment to professional development.

  • ERP Proficiency: Exhibit advanced proficiency in ERP systems like Epicor or equivalents such as Global Shop, Job Boss, or Pro Shop, showcasing technical acumen and adaptability.

  • Scheduler Mastery: Command a working knowledge of commercial schedulers like Tactic, OpCenter, Planet Together, etc., demonstrating versatility and readiness to tackle diverse challenges.

  • Lean Manufacturing: Demonstrate experience in lean manufacturing practices adapted for high mix, low volume manufacturing environments, showcasing agility and innovation.

  • Analytical Skills: Possess strong SQL and other analytics skills (e.g. Excel, Power BI, etc.) for querying and analyzing data from ERP/MES systems, enabling insightful decision-making and data-driven optimizations.

  • Methodological Expertise: Exhibit expertise in process analysis, production scheduling/planning, and continuous improvement methodologies, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication abilities to bridge technical and operational teams effectively, fostering collaboration and synergy.

  • Problem-Solving Acumen: Be self-motivated with robust problem-solving and decision-making skills, showcasing resilience and adaptability in fast-paced environments.

    Desired Qualification
