The key functions of the EHS Specialist makes leadership decisions and supervises emergency responders during critical activities associated with the mitigation of hazardous material, medical and fire events. Position determines types of personal protection equipment required for complex emergencies involving chemical storage and glass plant operations, process activities and laboratory environments.

  • Acts as initial Commander on incidents by developing containment and cleanup strategies

  • Coordinate monthly emergency response drills

  • Assist with pre-emergency planning activities and annual FM inspections

  • Conduct routine and non-routine inspections and audits of facility safety to ensure fire extinguishers, sprinkler related systems, and emergency response equipment are in working condition

  • Document incident scenes while gathering information and evidence

  • Conduct trainings and evaluations on safety and fire prevention

  • Minimum of 5 years of active emergency response in fire/medical

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • Haz Mat Awareness

  • HAZWOPER Technician certified

  • CPR certified

Experience preferred in the following areas:

  • Fire Science

  • Emergency Medical field
