Robert Half Cost Accounting Manager in Suffolk, Virginia

Description We are in search of a Cost Accounting Manager to join our team located in Suffolk, Virginia. The primary function of this role includes overseeing inventory control, conducting cost analysis, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records in the industry. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the lifecycle of inventory, ensuring accurate valuation and reconciliation

• Conduct detailed cost analysis of production stages and track performance margins

• Analyze variances in production efficiencies to identify opportunities for cost savings

• Prepare financial reports related to cost and inventory on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

• Collaborate with the finance team to integrate cost and inventory data into the overall monthly financial closure process

• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and industry regulations related to cost accounting and inventory reporting

• Conduct operations reporting and analysis, validating plant costing assumptions and production utilization

• Manage monthly inventory counts, including coordinating physical stock counts and resolving discrepancies

• Recommend and implement process improvements in cost accounting and inventory management to drive efficiency and accuracy

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Production, Procurement, and Supply Chain to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce costs

• Provide guidance to production and procurement teams on cost-effective purchasing decisions and best practices in inventory management. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably as a Cost Accounting Manager

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is mandatory

• Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning is required

• Comprehensive knowledge of Accounting Functions is essential

• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) is a must

• Proficiency in Auditing is expected

• Familiarity with Budget Processes is required

• Extensive knowledge of Cost Accounting is necessary

• Experience in Accounting Management is crucial

• Understanding of Cost - Direct is important

• Strong Analytics skills are desired

• Ability to Analyze Financial Statements is a must

• Experience in Analyzing Revenues is required

• Must be adept at Analyzing Variance

• Proficiency in Analyzing Trends is expected

• Experience in Annual Financial Reporting is necessary

• Ability to prepare and interpret Cash Flow Reports is crucial
