Cleveland Clinic Executive Director Finance Operations | Martin in Stuart, Florida

Reporting to the Florida Region Chief Financial Officer, serves as the lead finance executive for assigned entities as an integral member of the local executive team. Provides expert financial leadership and guidance to assigned entities, ensuring the achievement of financial objectives aligned with organizational goals. Serves as a strategic partner, driving financial excellence and promoting sound decision-making to achieve optimal financial performance. With direct financial accountability for assigned hospitals and facilities, the Lead Finance Executive is responsible for day-to-day financial management, as well as short- and long-range planning, and strategic growth initiatives. Effectively directs complex financial operations in assigned areas to ensuring alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the department and organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops comprehensive and integrated strategic goals, plans, and standards that reflect the financial, clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Ensures alignment with the specific needs of the hospital and ambulatory entities in the Florida market.

  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of the statutory, regulatory, and administrative landscape governing hospital operations in the state of Florida. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant requirements and ensures strict compliance across all assigned entities.

  • Develops comprehensive entity budgets that align with organizational goals and objectives. Monitors and facilitates adherence to allocated funding, ensuring efficient and effective utilization of resources across all entities.

  • Takes a proactive approach in developing Capital and Operating budgets for assigned entities, ensuring that they are completed within the designated timeframe. Seeks input from relevant stakeholders to promote accuracy and inclusiveness.

  • Provides effective leadership and guidance to the finance staff, overseeing their development, performance management, and hiring processes. Fosters a culture of employee engagement and promotes a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

  • Cultivates strong relationships with senior executives, establishing credibility as a trusted advisor and challenging thought-partner. Provides valuable insights and input that influence decision-making at the strategic level.

  • Formulates comprehensive financial plans that align with the organization's goals and long-term strategies. Takes into account market dynamics, internal capabilities, and future opportunities to ensure financial sustainability and growth.

  • Provides expert guidance in interpreting and analyzing financial data, translating complex information into actionable insights for local executive teams. Actively participates in management and policy decisions by offering informed perspectives based on financial analysis.

  • Leads the development of comprehensive Capital and Operating budgets, considering the unique needs and priorities of the market. Actively engages in strategic planning and enterprise integration initiatives, contributing to the organization's overall success.

  • Provides direct support in the planning and execution of major growth initiatives, including practice acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations, and other financial partnering transactions. Ensures rigorous financial analysis and due diligence are conducted to maximize value and mitigate risks.

  • Assumes direct responsibility for developing and maintaining accurate long-range financial forecasts and quarterly re-forecasts. Drives the development of robust operating plans that align with the strategic goals of assigned entities and the overall organization.

  • Leads multiple major, complex projects and relationships spanning local and regional scopes. Collaborates effectively with senior executives, physician leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes and drive organizational success.

  • Directs projects and teams of people in execution of projects by directing the work of FL region wide cross-functional members including caregivers/executives/physicians/external clients of all skill and management levels.

  • Represents the organization on community and/or local entity boards as assigned.

  • Works directly with the CFO to coordinate and manage complex FL region projects, presentations, and meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Major in Accounting and/or Finance preferred.

  • Master's degree preferred.

Certifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent certification preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously along with meeting firm deadlines and appropriate utilization of support staff.

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Must possess strong analytical and solution oriented, problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to engage, develop and mentor professional staff. Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. Prior experience and a well-established professional network are critical. Proven leadership in managing relationships is also critical to success in this position.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of finance and/or accounting experience, including 5 years healthcare experience in a complex multi-hospital healthcare system, business planning, project management, financial planning and analysis, long range financial forecast, financial modeling, budgeting capital planning, and decision support & data analytics experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated management experience is required.

  • A Master's degree may offset 2 years of required management experience.

  • Work history must demonstrate familiarity with community hospital environment.

  • Must demonstrate ability to function in a matrix management organization.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

  • Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $72.70

Maximum hourly: $143.58
