Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
We are seeking skilled Maintenance Technicians for a 30-day contract-to-hire position within the Steel Workers Union, with a potential 15% buyout after completion. This role requires troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, performing timely repairs, inspecting machines, and reporting issues to the maintenance supervisor for scheduling. Successful candidates will also perform equipment preventive maintenance and respond promptly to safety, production, or general plant maintenance issues.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and make timely repairs.
Inspect machines and relay problems to the maintenance supervisor.
Perform equipment preventive maintenance as instructed.
Complete and return work instruction sheets to supervision.
Respond to and resolve equipment calls promptly.
Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) use and safety of work areas.
Maintain readiness with a fire extinguisher near job sites.
Essential Skills
Mechanical troubleshooting of bearings and hydraulics.
Experience with repairs and schematic reading.
Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in plumbing, industrial maintenance, pneumatics, and preventive maintenance.
2+ years of industrial experience.
Ability to read schematics and work with 3 phase/480v systems.

Work Environment
Technicians will work in a main facility of 3000 sq ft with approximately 500 people, operating 7 days a week. Average hours are 48 per week, with time and a half pay on Saturdays and double time on Sundays. Shift openings are available for second (3-11 pm) and third (11 pm-7 am) shifts.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
