Job Description
Welds and fabricates structural steel for various projects related to mining, aggregate, construction, and more. We specialize in construction and custom welding and fabrication, with a preference for experience in structural steel and plate work.
Responsibilities
Safely perform duties, always wearing the required PPE.
Connect cables from the welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified by training or foreman.
Start the power supply to produce an electric current.
Clean or degrease weld joints or workpieces.
Prepare objects for welding by grinding surfaces.
Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in a jig or fixture. Fit up simple assemblies.
Preheat the workpiece if/when required.
Strike (form) arc to melt and deposit metal from electrode to workpiece and join edges of the workpiece.
Manually guide gun along weld line, maintaining the length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
Set up and adjust the welder, and perform routine maintenance such as replacing spools of wire and changing outlines.
Safely operate all lifting devices such as overhead and jib cranes and fork trucks when authorized and adequately trained.
Essential Skills
Vocational/technical training or a high school diploma/general education degree with work experience in an industrial setting.
Experience in fabrication , blueprint reading , manufacturing environment, tack welding, welding, and assembly .
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in schematics and blueprint reading.
Experience in tack welding and fabrication in a manufacturing environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Stoystown, Pennsylvania.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
