Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Journeyman Test Engineer to support test planning and preparation, test execution, daily reporting, data reduction and analysis, and test reporting for discrete test events for Department of Homeland Security equipment used at border crossings and airports. This position is located in Sterling, VA .

In this position, the successful candidate will perform assignments of moderate complexity by compiling and evaluating design, operational, and test data, preparing technical specifications, and analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and verification of test methods.

  • Aids in the development of detailed test procedures needed to perform the test and documents same in a resulting Test Plan.

  • Aids in designing test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements.

  • Collects, compiles, analyzes and interprets the results, and formats data to customer requirements.

  • Reviews test data for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer.

  • Aids in preparation and publishing of Test Reports and other relevant T&E documentation.

  • Aids in presentation of project results, both orally and in written form and is expected to interface daily with clients and stakeholders on-site

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Research, or other science-related field with 2 years of T&E planning, execution, interpretation, and reporting work experience or Master’s Degree in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.

  • Significant experience analyzing data and writing reports using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Candidates should be highly motivated self-starters with a strong desire to learn.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain a Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability.

  • Must be US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and implementing test activities with government security equipment such as license plate readers, radiofrequency identification (RFID) equipment, hardware gantries, highway signage, and/or biometrics readers, or similar Homeland Security equipment.

  • Active Secret Clearance.

  • Active DHS Suitability.
