Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Configuration Management Engineer to support the test and evaluation of security equipment for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs & Border Patrol (CBP). This position is located in Sterling, VA .
Primary responsibilities include evaluating the holistic system and how changes would affect system operations and/or performance. This includes following government guidance and information found in MIL-STD-973, MIL-HDBK-61A, ANSI/EIA 649A, and/or ISO 10007.
Responsibilities
Review of vendor Qualification and/or Technical Data Packages
Lead the establishment of initial configuration baselines and performing configuration audits for systems entering test.
Perform systems engineering critical functions analysis and gap analysis to ensure proposed configuration items (CIs) are suitable.
Lead the configuration control board process.
Serve as the point of contract for technology vendors regarding management of system configuration.
Key Qualifications
Associate Degree in related field and 7 years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
Must have a strong background and understanding of hardware and software documentation.
Must be a strong communicator with the capability to interact with a multi-faceted team, including federal clients and vendors.
Must be capable of working multiple tasks in parallel under tight deadlines.
Must have excellent computer skills including applicable Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability; Sole US Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing CM activities with government security equipment such as license plate readers, radiofrequency identification (RFID) equipment, hardware gantries, highway signage, and/or biometrics readers, or similar Homeland Security equipment.
Experience working directly with Department of Homeland Security organizations
Experience reviewing Technical Data Packages (TDP) and Qualification Data Packages (QDP).
Active Secret Clearance
Active DHS Suitability.
