The Network Service Manager is a member of the Network Engineering Team which is part of University IT, the central IT organization for Stanford University. The individual in this position reports directly to the Director of Network Engineering.

As the Network Service Manager for the Network Engineering Team, this individual will utilize his/her/their portfolio/program and financial management skills; customer service skills and resource demand management skills to assist the Director of Network Engineering in a variety of tasks including program/project management, resource forecasts, driving results, gathering and reporting on the status of various tasks, alignment with and reporting to the senior executive teams on a wide-array of efforts and goals.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Working with other departments to develop budgets and plans for the various Network Engineering programs and efforts.

  • Evaluating and assessing the programs’ strengths and weaknesses.

  • Monitoring projects and overseeing project managers and vendors to ensure goals are met.

  • Meeting with stakeholders to discuss program status and goals.

  • Organizing daily activities based on the goals of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, plus 10-years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience desired.

  • Ability to work comfortably in an environment with concurrent tasks and changing priorities/resources is required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and excel in tasks that involve conflict management, diplomacy, and decision-making.

  • Exceptional customer relationship skills, consensus building skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships in a diverse and distributed organization; flexible in adapting to clients’ changing needs.

  • Ability to resolve conflict.

  • Ability to anticipate impact on clients and other stakeholders.

  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project sponsors, key customers, and team members.

  • Experience with managing projects involving solution evaluation, implementation and upgrades.

  • Ability to schedule and manage tasks effectively.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Cost control and budgeting skills.

  • Teamwork and motivational skills.

  • Organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Detailed understanding of relevant technical knowledge and problem resolution.

  • Strong customer relationship skills, consensus-building skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships in a diverse environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff.

  • Experience in data analysis and budget management.

  • Consulting experience, with a focus on operations management.

  • Proven success in a project management role.

  • Nimble business mind, focused on developing creative solutions.

  • Strong project-reporting skills, with focus on interdepartmental communications.

The expected pay range for this position is $118,000 – $204,000 per annum.
