Tree Trust Employment Coach - Youth Program in St. Paul, Minnesota

This is a great opportunity for summer 2024 to build your resume in youth development and mentorship as you make a difference in the lives of young people. The Employment Coach acts as the liaison between parents, crew leaders, crew members, and the Tree Trust administrative team. This position will work with crew leaders and crew members to identify and provide behavioral intervention to support the crew member s success in the program. The Employment Coach serves as the on-site subject matter expert and support system focused on the overall growth and development of the participants. At the end of the summer, you will have helped your crew members learn employment skills, develop resilience, work as a team, enjoy the summer sun, make new friends, and build lasting memories. TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED There are multiple openings for this role that pay $21.00 per hour. Essential Functions Be the liaison between crew leaders, crew members, and parents, investigating and addressing concerns of both. o Respond to crisis/behavioral situations through phone or face to face intervention for assigned crews. o Identify/assess behavior(s) and assist crew leaders in appropriate resolution including proper disciplinary actions if warranted. o With the assistance of the Program Manager, investigate any concerns by parents/legal guardians, crew members, crew leaders, or Tree Trust s administrative team. o Advise and support crew leaders in interpretation and enforcement of Tree Trust policies, documentation requirements, supervisory, or disciplinary concerns. o Contact Program Manager and crew member s parent/legal guardian to report any disciplinary action taken. o Support and assist crew leaders in motivating youth and educating crew members on appropriate workplace communication, problem solving techniques, self-care, and teamwork development. o Actively support and assist crew members in the construction and completion of their assigned projects. o Teach employment readiness curriculum. Collect paperwork from assigned crews and turn into appropriate Tree Trust administrative office. o Collect and review crew member timecards for accuracy, turning them in to the Finance department by due dates. o Collect disciplinary notice(s), review and advise of proper documentation, if necessary, and turn them in to the Program Manager for mailing and filing. o Collect Reward Notices/awards and turn in to Program Manager. o Complete new hire orientation and new hire paperwork with new crew members on site, as needed. Communicate with crew leaders, crew members, parents, and Tree Trust administrative staff regarding changes and needs of assigned crews, as appropriate. Attend regular staff meetings and trainings. Participant Service Requirements: Mentor BIPOC participants and participants with all types of employment barriers, including participants with varied ability including Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, trauma, experience with the criminal justice system and substance abuse issues, and from underserved areas or living with low income. Model a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to quality. Provide deliberate and effective feedback to participants to foster continuous development within an employment training setting. Set appropriate boundaries with participants, staying focused on program mission and goals. Respond to challenging situations with composure and good judgement, modeling professional employment behaviors. Work Environment: Occasional office environment, but regularly works outside in conditions that include bad weather, heat up to 100 degrees, rain, and humidity. The noise level may be loud at times. Sturdy/closed toe footwear required. All tools will be provided by Tree Trust. Physical demands: The ability to stand for long periods, sit, twist, bend, grip, and lift and carry heavy objects up to 25 lbs. Screen viewing and keyboarding/typing time.
