Primary Responsibilities HDR is seeking an experienced System Protection & Studies (SPS) Engineering Manager (EM). The primary duties of the SPS EM include but are not limited to the following. Job Duties: Develops a partnership with the PM, whereas the PM is responsible for scope, schedule, budget, and client management, and the EM is responsible for leading the technical team and execution of the project deliverables Develops and implements a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects. Assigns project tasks and provides technical guidance to project team members. Supports the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management. Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations. Works independently and will direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more Project Engineers, EIT's, or CADD/Designers Coordinates and/or performs quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per the HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures to deliver a world class quality product to the client. Works with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and will attend training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline. May also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events. Perform other duties as needed. *LI-BC1 Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Professional Engineer (P.E.) license A minimum of 10 years of experience doing electrical power system analysis, electrical system planning, relay setting development, and/or substation design Experience with industry standard power system analysis software: CAPE, ASPEN, ETAP, SKM, CDEGS, PSEE, etc. Familiarity with substations drawings including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, general arrangements, connection diagrams, raceway drawings, and bill of materials. Experience with vendor specific relay software: AcSELerator, UR EnerVista, etc. Familiarity with various types of substation protection and control schemes Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards Proficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams, etc.) Knowledgeable on both electromechanical as well as digital protective relays Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture. Preferred Qualifications: Previous consulting firm experience. Previous staff supervision experience. Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
