HDR currently has an opening for a Highway Engineer-in-Training with 0 to 4 years of experience to join our Highway Team in the St. Louis Park, MN office. Our team focuses on geometric design, alternatives analysis, and final design for a variety of types of projects including City, County and Department of Transportation (DOT) projects. Primary Responsibilities Work as a key member of the Highway Team for moderate to large projects and work independently on smaller projects Assimilate and manage data Provide transportation design services for transit, highway, state agencies, cities and counties Prepare the following roadway/highway design elements using local agency or AASHTO design standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, 3D modeling, roadway cross sections, intersection layout and sight distance determination, interchange layout, and roadway drainage Work with a team in the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for projects of various sizes and complexities Manage the following work elements: day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the other team members, write reports and technical memos, and organize project tasks in support of senior staff Perform other duties as needed #LI-LA1 Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering Excellent oral and written communication skills Self-starter who strives to learn and take on increasing responsibilities Time management and organizational skills Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must Willingness to work over-time as required Preferred Qualifications EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression 0 to 4 years transportation planning and/or design experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation and GEOPAK, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D Software Experience with 3D modeling Why HDR At HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for it's also about what you do and how you do it.
