Data Governance Program Manager (Hybrid eligible)

Job Description:

Summary

The Data Governance Program Manager is responsible for supporting Data Governance across the organization, enabling business growth while ensuring compliance with risk and regulatory expectations. The position partners with various business and technology stakeholders to influence and drive adoption of related Enterprise Data Management strategies, policies, standards and control frameworks. The role evaluates established and emerging data practices and technologies, while implementing processes and solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop data governance frameworks and guidelines, including data classification, data ownership, and data stewardship.

  • Ensure that data management practices are defined and consistent across the bank and that our organization and teams understand those practices and compliance requirements

  • Provide guidance and implement data quality initiatives, including establishing data quality standards, conducting data profiling, and defining data quality rules and metrics.

  • Collaborate closely with legal, IT, project management, risk and other teams to establish data governance frameworks, drive data quality initiatives, and promote a culture of data stewardship and accountability across the organization.

  • Define and enforce data storage and management policies to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data across the organization.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to define data lifecycle management policies and procedures, including data retention, archival, and disposal practices, to optimize data utilization while minimizing risks.

  • Collaborate with departments and business lines to identify data stewards and establish clear roles and responsibilities for managing and maintaining data assets.

  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on data governance best practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to evaluate third-party data providers to their data security risks and to integrate appropriate measures into our business continuity plan, based on comprehensive risk analysis.

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements related to data governance and recommend appropriate modifications to existing policies and practices

  • Conduct periodic reviews of data management to ensure data policy is being appropriately applied.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the planning and execution of data management activities such as data sourcing, metadata management, data quality, data privacy or records management.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong influence and persuasion skills at all levels

  • The ability to manage projects

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with diligence and accuracy

  • The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships, both internally and externally

  • A solid understanding of data governance principles and best practices

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficient in relevant data governance tools and applications.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in data governance or a combination of relevant experience

  • Prior experience in implementing data governance programs, data quality and data stewardship

Computer and Software Skills

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Google Suite

  • Experience with advanced data analytic tools preferred (e.g. SAP, Tableau, etc)
