Duties:
- Provides civil engineering support in CAD drafting, GPS surveying, GIS mapping, data collection program development, training, and construction inspection for infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, culverts, etc.).
- Conducts plan reviews, performs AutoCAD drafting, manages records/data, assists in design, and supports surveying tasks (GPS, leveling, topographical, construction layout).
- Assists engineers in construction administration, construction inspection, and problem resolution.
- Engages with contractors and residents as needed.
- Organizes and leads project meetings, manages construction schedules (Excel), and helps refine engineering procedures and guidelines.
- Trains and monitors interns assigned to projects.

Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in engineering or related field and five years of related work or course work in the road/construction area; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and seven years of experience in drafting, surveying, project management, or construction oversight.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid vehicle operator's license and OSHA 10 Certification.
- Will be required to complete State of Michigan Investment Reporting Tool training within 12 months of employment and obtain Asset Management Champion Certification within 24 months of employment.
- Work is primarily office-based with some fieldwork at project sites, which may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and require personal protective equipment (e.g., safety boots, hard hat, safety vest).
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of drafting principles, methods, and tools.
- Able to use AutoCAD to draft from design markups and as-builts.
- Adept at the creation of model and paper space layouts and base sheets in AutoCAD.
- Capable of maintaining accurate data and records.
- Proficiency in drafting related software, Microsoft Excel, and Roadsoft.
