Senior Deputy Circuit Court Clerk

Duties:
- Performs advanced clerical/administrative tasks within the office of the County Clerk, including maintenance of an accurate record and information retention system.
- Receives and opens PPO filings and assists petitioner and respondent with compliance of required information.
- Manages content of information and forms and distributes paperwork to judges and those involved.
- Processes PPO violations for arraignment.
- Verifies hearing has been entered into software program and that the judge's Orders are received for entry and processing.
- Prepares files and paperwork for Court of Appeals.
- Analyzes files returned from the Court of Appeals or Supreme Court for action required by the higher court.
- Initiates process for appeal attorneys' appointments and sends all copied files to same.
- Opens District Court Appeal Cases.
- Prepares paperwork, collects fees, obtains a judge's signature and distributes paperwork to all parties involved.
- Prepares Judgment of Restitution and LIEN which includes case number, defendant name, victim information, amount of restitution, vendor number and obtains judge's signature.
- Schedules hearings, receives case files, reviews files to determine applicable hearing, notifies all parties to be present at hearings and instructs them of court date and procedures.
- Performs Notarial Services in the Criminal Office and maintains the County Clerk's Courthouse log.
- Serves as back-up to Deputy Circuit Court Clerk I and other positions as necessary.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent and three years of office experience, preferably in a legal or governmental organization.
- Additional coursework in legal office administration, business or related areas is preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, including drug testing and background check, before employment.
- Employees will be fingerprinted.
- Must become a Notary within 3 months of start date and maintain throughout employment.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills.
- Able to perform duties in compliance with all applicable statutes and court rules.
Typing Requirement:
- Must have a minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute net.
