The CMO Medical at Oregon is the institution's premier medicine physician with operational oversight and responsibilities over key medicine programs and will serve as the primary administration liaison with all medical specialties and departments. Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer Oregon. Works in a collaborative fashion with all stakeholders across all relevant departments with the overarching duty to improve medical care and processes.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides leadership to enhance quality, safety, efficiency, and resource utilization in medical specialties.

  2. Serves as the Oregon CMO’s representative for the Sacred Heart Medical Center medical staff departments of Hospital Medicine, Subspecialty Department Medicine, Critical care, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, and Radiology.

  3. Provides operational oversight over key medical program of and serves as the mentor for the medical directors of Hospital Medicine, Care Management and Utilization Review, Pediatrics, Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Infection Prevention, and Stroke.

  4. Works with a wide range of stakeholders and institutional leadership to develop, operational efficiencies, medicine priorities, and quality improvement goals.

  5. Serves as the physician leader for select institution-wide and system-wide quality initiatives at the behest of the CMO.

  6. Demonstrates to stakeholders such as accrediting bodies, regulatory agencies, patients, and patient advocates our commitment to quality and safety by leading collaborative efforts with these entities as required.

  7. Collaborates with nursing and physician leaders, and administration to help create, implement, monitor, and progressively refine a comprehensive and evidence-based program to deliver exceptional care to patients and achieve relevant quality targets.

  8. Monitors effectiveness of medicine programs through goal setting, establishes timelines for reviewing program effectiveness, tracking of statistics, and quality improvements.

  9. Establishes behavioral standards and participate in system-wide networking groups (as indicated) to ensure the achievement of organization-wide clinical and service quality goals.

  10. In concert with leadership - develops, implements, and monitors the effectiveness of evidence-based protocols, standardized order sets, and policies governing medical care.

  11. Participates in the education/training of caregivers and medical staff.

  12. Reports quality of care issues promptly to appropriate individuals including through the variance reporting system.

  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Accredited School of Medicine required & an accredited residency program in a medical or clinical specialty

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years recent clinical practice experience

  • Minimum of 5 years high-level healthcare leadership experience

  • Experience and success in leading and facilitating diverse physician groups

  • Prior experience and success in enhancing institution wide medical quality

Credentials

  • Required Upon Hire: Medical Doctor - Oregon

The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $165/hr – $186/hr . The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.
