Clark County Public Defender Administrative Assistant II
Responsible for performing legal and clerical support duties and related tasks.
Essential Duties:
Qualify applicants
Open, close and maintain client files
Daily interaction with clients in person or on the telephone
Create and file appropriate legal paperwork
Order office supplies and office equipment
Operate office computer and other standard office equipment
Qualifications
Possession of a valid Ohio driver license and minimum state required vehicle insurance. Ability to strictly comply with all requirements regarding privileged and/or confidential communication. Knowledge of or ability to learn Federal, State and local laws related to the public defender office. Knowledge of criminal justice system or ability to learn processes. Ability to adapt to a variety of social circumstances. Ability to work without constant supervision, be motivated, show individual initiative and be skilled in public relations. Knowledge of and ability to effectively perform standard secretarial skills Ability to work under pressure. Ability to conduct and administer day-to-day operations of a law office. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, judicial officials, attorneys, staff and others. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment efficiently. Working knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Word (inc. developer option), PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc. Ability to work effectively with the public and all office staff. Ability to read legal documents and write simple correspondence. Ability to take oral and written instructions. Excellent attendance record and ability to work needed hours to complete assignments. Ability to troubleshoot and solve office procedure problems.
