JZN Engineering, PC. Geotechnical Project Engineer in Springfield, New Jersey

Perform the assigned engineering project activities under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer. Plan, schedule, and coordinate geotechnical engineering related work involving conventional engineering practices and following the required building code. Perform/support activities such as subsurface investigation, support of excavation and underpinning designs, pre and post construction conditions services, vibration and tilt monitoring, geotechnical forensic services, stormwater management, construction observation and special inspections. Support geotechnical investigation activities such as drilling personnel, drilling of soil borings and excavation of test pits, collecting and classifying soil and rock samples on site, and performing in place soil density testing. Produce geotechnical engineering reports based upon project parameters and site conditions encountered during geotechnical investigations. Develop innovative foundation solutions in support of the project. Design of support of excavation (SOE) elements (drilled micro-pile supported timber lagging wall, sheet pile wall, secant wall, soil mix wall, underpinning, walers, struts, etc.). Design deep foundation elements (driven piles, full displacement piles, micro piles, rigid inclusions), foundation tie downs, global slope stability analysis. Provide construction phase geotechnical related inspections such as subgrade inspection, backfilling, deep foundation construction (all types), foundation tie downs, support of excavation and underpinning, tie backs, dewatering. Perform deep foundation elements load tests including axial compressive, lateral, and uplift as well as rock anchor proof and performances tests. Must have Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Skills required: ability to perform geotechnical field investigations. Must have knowledge of geotechnical engineering design such as, shallow foundations, deep foundation, retaining structures, support of excavation and underpinning systems, foundation tie-downs; tie-backs, settlement analysis, slope stability analysis, soil improvement design and assessments. Must have knowledge with geotechnical engineering software such as L-pile, A-Pile, Group, Shaft, Settle3d, GRLWeap, Slide2D/3D, and AutoCAD. 40 hours per week.
