Position Profile:

The Staff Accountant is a financial business partner with the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Asset, and Cost Accounting teams to facilitate and achieve accurate and timely financial information along with supporting month end close activities. The Staff Accountant is expected to work closely with customers and suppliers to ensure proper execution of business practices, contracts, and advancing improvement efforts. The position is an important part of the financial talent pipeline.

Responsibilities:

1. Financial role

  • Support accounts receivable / accounts payable functions

  • Assist with month-end close activities

  • Assist in oversight and analysis of assigned plant inventories

  • Post transactions in the ERP system, including journal entries, allocations, reconciliations, inventory revaluation, and adjustments.

  • Develop and executes systematic processes that ensure strong internal controls including; data integrity, asset protection, and adherence to corporate policies

2. Reporting and analysis

  • Accounts receivable / accounts payable financial reporting and analysis

  • Research and resolve receivable / payable issues by working directly with customers, suppliers, plant associates, and our corporate departments

  • Review packaging and ingredient pricing and ensure price changes are approved by the appropriate customer if needed

  • Complete account reconciliations and all other reporting as assigned

3. Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to Divisional Accounting Manager

  • This position works closely with divisional management, accounting personnel, and corporate finance departments

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant discipline

  • 0-3 years of experience in the accounting field

  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability—understands Profit and Loss along with Balance Sheet dynamics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient use of Excel

  • SAP system experience

  • Additional certifications a plus (CPA, CMA, MBA)

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) related to accounting and financial reporting

  • Knowledge of business theory, business processes, and management

  • Skill in quantitative financial analysis techniques, including data interpretation and analysis

  • Skill in critical thinking, analysis, mathematical calculations, and statistical evaluations

  • Able to work independently or in collaboration fostering a positive team approach

  • Able to present to diverse audiences from front line team members to senior management

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Able to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines

  • Able to read, write, and speak English
