Job Title: Furnace Operator
Job Description
Working in a metal heat treatment facility, the Furnace Operator is responsible for operating furnaces and assisting with other tasks around the shop. The role involves reading job cards, matching them to control panels on the machines, using PLCs, and adjusting heat and run times. The operator will also be trained to assist with hardness testing, painting, and packaging when not running the furnaces.
Responsibilities
Load parts into the furnace and unload them after completion (runs anywhere from 3-5+ hours).
Operate forklift and overhead crane for moving parts.
Perform general shop maintenance including cleaning oil spills, sweeping, and re-taping the floor.
Read job cards and match them to control panels on the machines.
Use PLCs to adjust heat and run times.
Essential Skills
General labor experience.
Loading and unloading experience.
Computer data entry and interaction with PLCs.
Forklift experience.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Capability to work in high heat environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a foundry or casting is helpful.
Experience in production, hand tool usage, mechanical work, packaging, and cleaning.
Ability to handle a dirty, hot, and smoky environment.
Work Environment
The job is based in a heat treatment facility with a small, cross-trained crew. The shop environment includes working with open flames, temperatures up to 160 degrees in front of the furnaces, and a loud, slow-paced setting. The role involves a lot of bending and twisting, and requires the ability to handle hot and physically demanding work conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
