Nestled in Spencer, Indiana, Canyon Inn is located within McCormick’s Creek State Park, Indiana’s oldest State Park, blending beautiful scenery and history together for an unforgettable experience. The Inn features 76 guest rooms, the Canyon Inn Restaurant, an outdoor pool, and banquet/conference space.
Role Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor responds to all general maintenance service calls. Maintenance oversees the inn and pool maintenance to meet high-quality standards and provide exceptional guest service. The incumbent is responsible for performing routine inspections of building systems and equipment, identifying and repairing minor issues, conducting preventative maintenance tasks, handling basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs, maintaining grounds and landscaping, cleaning common areas, and documenting maintenance activities through logs and reports.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.45/hour but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Facilitates the daily maintenance operations throughout the property by walk-through and visual inspections assessing the safe and efficient maintenance of the physical structure of the hotel, kitchen, restaurant, banquet, and dining areas
Performs or directs basic repair and maintenance of facilities, guest rooms, and public spaces
Maintains building by performing/directing basic repairs, carpentry, shoveling, clean-up work, snow-ice removal, plumbing, electrical wiring, painting, and related maintenance activities
Optimizes maintenance staff and outside vendors repairs, replacements, audits/inspections, and improvement projects
Prioritizes work orders through urgent requests or schedules work to minimize inconveniencing hotel/banquet/dining guests and coordinating those schedules with affected departments
Inspects and maintains machinery and equipment for conformance with operations, optimizing the assets, and meeting safety standards
Moves supplies, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and guest luggage as required
Able to maintain all Indiana State Park Inns standards and excel during annual inspections
Properly maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies required for daily operations and projects
Organizes tools and supplies to increase productivity
Provides timely and professional assistance to the other departments of the hotel
Accountable for materials used and requesting of items needed for projects
Maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas
Handles chemicals according to hotel/regulatory safety requirements
Ensures security of any assigned keys and RFID key system
Associates must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
Other duties as assigned
What You'll Need for Success:
Strong knowledge of commercial building repair and maintenance to include all trades i.e. Electrical, Plumbing, Drywall, Paint, Carpentry, and Carpet repair.
5 years of hospitality maintenance experience preferred.
Understand the safe operation of tools.
Ability to read basic building plans and research product drawings, specifications, and manuals.
Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor in an outside environment.
Requires frequent standing and walking.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.
This role should expect to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requires assigned times of being on call 24/7 to support immediate and emergency needs.
Individuals may be required to wear an Indiana State Park Inns-provided uniform.
Ability to hold effective communication with coworkers and guests and assist them as needed.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
