Schwab seeking an outcome driven, results-oriented, well organized, strategic Sr Data Engineer who shares our passion for technology, innovation, people, and excellence. The candidate will work aside a team of seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the system health and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of platform and system releases.
This position will be part of the Operational Data Exchange (ODX) Technology team within the Schwab Data organization focusing on providing Operational Intelligence and Insights, and position Schwab to remain a Data Driven organization using a world class Data Exchange platform. The DX’s support various critical business functions and business units – Finance, Futures & Forex Trading, Risk, Treasury, Compliance, etc. The model is insights-driven and focuses on rapid iterations to drive innovation and transformation. Position Responsibilities:
Drive Agile development supporting organization priorities and innovation
Drive outcomes and team performance, collaborate with all to achieve results and think strategically
Work closely with development, product owner and team members to decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks
Lead team in execution of application support and automation for deployments
Interface with product owner and key stakeholders in Project Management, Business, Development, QA and Technology Operations to ensure high quality delivery of software projects on time and on budget
Identify technology risks and dependencies early to establish mitigation plans
Create and maintain artifacts for production support and deployment processes
Meet periodically with onshore and offshore developers and application support to review and improve processes
Utilize automated software tools and frameworks for deployments and on-going maintenance activities
Support integration and modernization efforts
What you have
Required Qualifications:
Exceptional track record in delivering results and business outcomes
Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar/equivalent area of study
7+ years working in the financial services industry
15+ years of solid data engineering and automation experience
10+ years of strategic project experience in matrixed organization
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Futures & Forex Trading and data platforms
Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards and Guidelines
Experience providing guidance, direction, and feedback to other technical staff in order to meet agreed upon objectives.
Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various levels of technical and non-technical management.
Proficient managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, geographically dispersed environment
Good understanding of Database, preferably SQL and/or PostGres
Good understanding of Data pipelines and patterns.
Experience in Python coding skills
Experience with tools such as GitHub, Bamboo, JMeter, SonarQube
Experience with mapping data required for regulatory, non-regulatory data needs
Experience and demonstrated proficiency in cloud-based technologies (GCP preferred or AWS)
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
