The Position

Genentech, a leader in bio-pharmaceutical sciences, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Sourcing Manager (Scientific Manager) with a proven record of accomplishments in business development and the technical management of external partners to join our growing External Science and Manufacturing group. Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Identifying and evaluating CDMOs and CROs for production and R&D capabilities to support Drug Product manufacturing and formulation development of our small molecules, polypeptides, and oligonucleotides in accordance with cGMP, ICH, and FDA/EMA regulations.

  • Procurement management, contract negotiations, and risk analysis.

  • Working closely with internal and external cross-functional team members in a cooperative fashion to define and execute the manufacturing strategy, communicate risks, and ensure expedited project progression.

The candidate may also be responsible for writing technical reports and the CMC section of regulatory dossiers (INDs, IMPDs, NDAs, etc.). The level of the position will depend on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements.

  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields, with 12+ years (5+ years for Ph.D.) of industrial experience in developing small molecule formulations.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects or interacting with CDMOs and CROs.

  • Strong working knowledge of the latest developments in contemporary Drug Product manufacturing and formulation development.

  • Demonstrated record of innovation and success on multiple projects over the course of their industrial career.

  • The ability to take initiative, solve problems independently as well as work in teams, and communicate clearly, both orally and written, are essential skills for this position.
