Location: This is a remote position (Supporting the following territories: Georgia, South Carolina, and Northern Florida)

Candidates must reside in one of the following states: GA, SC, or North of Orlando (Jacksonville, Tallahassee, etc.)

The Area Manager is responsible for building relationships and effective communication throughout the assigned territory to engage and develop Residential Generator Dealers. Focus will be on existing Dealers with potential to increase sales and non-Kohler Dealers, to introduce the Kohler brand and increase market presence, share, and sales. The position is accountable for selling, planning, scheduling, directing, training, and evaluating all Residential/Light Commercial Dealers for assigned territory. The Area Manager will represent Kohler Home Energy’s interest to ensure that all contracts are honored, and objectives are realized. The Area Manager works closely with all Kohler Home Energy functions to ensure proper alignment of resources so to drive efficiency and success.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivate trusting relationships with each targeted Residential Generator Dealer and Wholesaler in assigned territory.

  • Primary relationship and account ownership with both existing and prospective Dealers within assigned territory.

  • Create and implement a territory management plan and coordinate sufficient interactions with Dealers in territory to execute.

  • Learn all Kohler Home Energy products (generator sets, automatic transfer switches, load control modules, parts and accessories) and data systems (PowerBI, CRM (Partner HQ), customer-facing portals, and sales reports) to ensure proper assistance is provided to dealers to drive brand loyalty that leads to new orders. Activities include order tracking, stock availability, lead management, building and maintaining complete dealer database, on-boarding and retaining dealers, supporting dealers on products and technical tools and penetrating the dealer network as directed by the Regional Manager(s) and VP Sales.

  • Work closely with Aftermarket Service Manager (ASM) to ensure dealers are supported on warranty, parts, training, and other functional departments for follow-up.

  • Main point of contact for New Dealer lead qualification in territory. Collaborate closely with Inside Sales team who will make initial contact with majority of leads and forward feedback to Area Manager as needed for next steps.Build, modify and customize sales presentations for new and existing Dealers to drive brand loyalty through value-add service, professionalism, timeliness, and thoroughness.

  • Work closely with all sales support functions within the Kohler Home Energy business; including Marketing, Sales Administration, Operations, Technical Services, Credit, and Customer Service to ensure proper alignment of resources.

  • Complete and execute special projects as directed by Regional Manager and/or VP Sales.

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

Supervisory Relationships:

  • Reports to Regional Manager, for Residential and Power Products (RaPP) Business.

Organization Relationships:

  • Weekly or more frequent contact with Regional Manager

  • Weekly or more frequent contact with local Aftermarket Service Manager(s)

  • Regular contact as needed with Inside Sales to ensure new dealer opportunities are followed-up on and new dealer onboarding is completed expeditiously.

  • Regular contact with Sales Administration and Customer Service Operations teams to ensure orders and other customer obligations are fulfilled.

  • Frequent contact with peer Area Managers and other internal RaPP personnel nationwide regarding team projects.

  • Periodic contact with Corporate Credit and Collections teams to ensure credit facilities and responsible contacts are maintained.

Skills/Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in sales, business administration or marketing most preferred. Equivalent professional work experience will be considered.

  • A minimum of 2 years of proven successful sales experience required, preferably with a technical product(s).

  • Experience supporting and developing dealer channel partners highly preferred.

  • Must possess advanced skills in written and oral communication with all management levels internally and externally.

REQUIRED TRAVEL

  • Must be able and willing to travel 30-60% in assigned territory.

  • Overnight travel dependent on scheduling and proximity to home base.

The salary range for this position is $102,500 - $130,550. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
