The SRDP (Sugar Rotational Development Program) is designed so the new employee will be exposed to a variety of learning experiences in the field. OVERVIEW

It is a unique opportunity for the right college graduates to gain professional experience in the Sugar Industry. The positions are located at our facilities in western Palm Beach County. Florida Crystals Corporation is a leading domestic sugar producer that owns 155,000 acres of land, two sugar mills, a sugar refinery, a biomass renewable power plant, and a rice mill in Palm Beach County. These facilities farm and harvest sugarcane and rice for processing at the local mills. The position reports to the Sr. Safety Manager, the successful candidate will undertake a Safety Industrial Operations training program.

POSITION STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES AND KEY DELIVERABLES

The initial purpose of the Safety SRDP position is to learn about and obtain a broad experience of the Safety programs, operations, and our business generally. This individual will coordinate the safety and health efforts within the Florida Crystals Corporation Various Agricultural and/or Industrial Locations, working closely with corporate and field personnel to maximize overall efficiency and effectiveness of the safety and health efforts. Very quickly, the Safety SRDP will then be required to contribute a high level of energy to the execution and continuous improvement of the Safety department, based on their learning and experiences. Success in this role is based upon being able to demonstrate clear value to the business by executing against key objectives.

GENERAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive a general overview of the manufacturing operations

  • Work alongside Shift Supervisor(s), Mill Process and/or Production Supervisor(s)

  • Review technical reports (Daily, Weekly, Monthly Energy/Water)

  • Gain knowledge of Plant Maintenance and SAP

  • Work alongside the Process Team Manager’s and engineers to resolve day to day inefficiencies and refinery performance issues.

  • Assist in problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives requiring utilities technical input

  • Assist with training and upskilling of the Utilities operational team.

  • Mill Fabrication Process

  • Work on optimization projects to provide continuous improvements in safety, hygiene, quality and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) performance.

  • Gain experience of supervising packing operations. Provide cover for supervisors and managers where appropriate.

  • Work with mill lab samples and reports pertaining to mill fabrication

  • Available to work rotating shifts (7am – 3pm, 3pm -11pm and 11pm – 7am) and/or weekends

  • Be able to physically work in an industrial / farming environment

  • Provide troubleshooting assistance when refinery equipment is not operating properly

  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing environments with moderate noise levels and to outdoor elements is also required.

  • Potential to be exposed to heights.

  • To work alongside the engineering team to ensure correct and relevant engineering documentation is available.

  • To use knowledge and experience to avoid, anticipate and deal with engineering problems.

    WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Minimum of 0 – 1 years of experience

  • Prior related internship experience preferred

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment preferred

  • Understanding of Safety and Quality standards

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering - Industrial or Mechanical from an accredited college/university required.
