DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, your responsibilities will include skilled maintenance and repair work on a wide range of vehicles, construction equipment, and powered hand tools. You will not be responsible for diagnostic work on diesel equipment, rebuilding parts, or repairing the air brake system and diesel engine fuel injection system. Additionally, you will perform oil changes, mechanical diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and repairs on various systems such as the engine, cooling system, suspension, electrical, heating and air conditioning, fuel, brake, steering, and drive-line systems. You will also conduct state safety and emissions inspections, ensuring repairs are compliant with specifications and completing all necessary paperwork. Furthermore, you will perform maintenance tasks on diesel equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and repairs on electrical, cooling, suspension, and drive-line systems. You may also be required to make minor repairs and provide preventive maintenance on equipment, as well as demonstrate repair techniques to other employees and assist in major repairs. Finally, you may need to provide emergency road service and perform maintenance and repairs in field environments when necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Travel, overtime and shift work required.  Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as a Tradesman Helper (commonwealth title) working in the automotive field; or Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology curriculum of an accredited trade or technical school; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment: Certain positions may require employees to possess an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's Permit or License on the first day of employment. Certain positions may require employees to possess an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of employment. Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment. All positions will require employees to obtain a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification during the probationary period. Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. Certain positions will require employees to pass the Department of Transportation's New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period. This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
