Job Overview The principle products of Bedford Gear are gears, gear assemblies, gear shafts, and spline shafts. This position supervises a group of employees performing maintenance. Equipment used in the shop includes lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, straightening presses, and gear cut equipment. The position is concerned with maintenance on equipment breakdowns and scheduling preventative maintenance, as well as functions of operations that produce gears and related products. Key Job Responsibilities 1. Supervise all workers in performance of their duties and delegate work assignments. 2. Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting, problem solving activities, and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime. 3. Provide leadership in implementing and maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs. 4. Ensure that appropriate inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained. 5. Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment. 6. Repair and rebuild machines and install new machinery on the shop floor. 7. Complete all facility maintenance. 8. Explore, develop, investigate, and implement cost improvement ideas that will benefit the company. 9. Ensure that safety rules are adhered to and promptly report and investigate all accidents. Qualifications/Requirements A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Engineering or other Technical field strongly preferred PLC and CNC programming and troubleshooting abilities. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic functions to troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment. Knowledge of CNC machine alignments. Lean manufacturing implementation experience. Experience in a gear-manufacturing or precision machining environment.
