Position Summary:

This role serves as the Chief of Staff to the Zone North America Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), providing strategic support and acting as a trusted advisor. This role is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the short- and long-term strategy (1 - 3 years, 3 - 5 years and 5 - 10 years) aligned with the company's overall objectives and the CPO's vision. This is accomplished through ongoing collaboration with Procurement leadership and critical stakeholders from related functions. You are expected to be plugged into future industry trends in the consumer-packaged goods via your own network, industry conferences, councils, and more. This role will prepare for the CPO and Procurement leadership presentations, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership.

You will use your strategic mindset, superior executive presence, organizational savvy, and knowledge of the industry to drive Procurement strategy. You will foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the procurement function. You will define and design new capabilities, lead prototyping and proof of concept efforts to accelerate results, and partner with teams for strategy development and goal setting. The role is responsible for building cross-functional relationships across the enterprise, including with strategic functional and business resources in the market and on global teams. Collaboration both locally and globally, as well as across functions, is crucial to align strategies and drive organizational success.

This role will work a hybrid schedule (in office/work from home) and is required to be located in either Solon, Ohio (greater Cleveland) or Arlington, Virginia (Greater D.C.).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define and design new capabilities via relationships with functional and business leaders, market research, industry conferences, etc.

  • Conduct research, analyze market trends, and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization within the procurement function

  • Lead new initiative discussions with enterprise leaders

  • Use competitor and market research to inform potential initiatives, communicate analysis, and facilitate feedback from the cross-functional team

  • Identify best-in-class practices Nestlé can adopt

  • Harmonize direction with other functions, divisions, and global teams

  • Provide strategic vision and prioritization guidance for assigned focus areas in close coordination with project management personnel and assigned project teams

  • Own cross-functional relationships across the procurement organization and beyond and leverage them as necessary to achieve strategic objectives to position the organization as best as possible

  • Delegate to cross-functional teams to pursue strategic initiatives; oversee including driving regular touchpoints, providing guidance, and bringing in SME’s and procurement leadership where necessary

  • Lead prototyping and proof-of-concept efforts for long-term initiatives using subject matter experts from functional areas and optimization teams

  • Maintain Strategic Roadmap and Risk Documentation for three time horizons (<3 years, 3 - 5 years and 5< years)

  • Leverage expertise to analyze initiatives and opportunities identified by internal and external teams

  • Serve as the Chief of Staff to the CPO

  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership, providing insights and updates on functional strategy and performance.

  • Working in close partnership with the Procurement Finance Co-Pilot, co-coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and performance metrics for the procurement function.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred: Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Marketing, or Industrial Engineering

  • 10+ years of purchasing experience, strategic planning and demonstrated leadership experience in a related operational field

  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with global procurement and sourcing processes, legal contract negotiations, and contract management

  • Demonstrated success developing multi-year strategies; background with a large (>$1BB) consumer products company preferred

  • Interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with and influence a dynamic and diverse set of stakeholders, including the ability to listen and understand differing perspectives

  • Strategic mindset with quantitative, problem-solving, project management, and negotiation skills and a strong desire for continuous improvement

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Adept at managing change and working through ambiguity to identify and drive to a solution, both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise across boundaries and boarders and influence with integrity

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful functional strategies that drive business results.

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, cost optimization strategies, and market trends within the CPG industry.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to senior leadership.
