Job Title: Color Sorting Operator

Job Description

The Color Sorting Operator monitors, cleans, and maintains the operation of various electronic eyes and sizing system equipment used to separate damaged product and foreign material from good product and maintain APSA grades. The role involves working with equipment to size, convey, and clean shelled peanuts in shelling and blanching plants, ensuring the facility's sanitation as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, clean, and maintain various pieces of equipment used to size, convey, and clean shelled peanuts.

  • Maintain the operation of electronic eyes and sizing system equipment.

  • Disassemble and reassemble components inside the electronic eyes, such as ejectors, lamps, and control boards.

  • Communicate with colleagues regarding equipment operation, changes in flow rates, processing capabilities, safety and maintenance issues, and food safety requirements.

  • Complete daily assigned jobs, including paperwork, sanitation, maintenance, and safety assignments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Peanut Shelling experience preferred

  • Two years of previous experience required for Color Sorting Operator II

  • Three years of previous experience required for Color Sorting Operator III

  • Technical college preferred for Color Sorting Operator III

  • Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility or similar relevant experience preferred

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Good communication skills

  • Physical dexterity

  • Willingness to work in shifts, including late or early hours, weekends, and overtime

Work Environment

Non-climate controlled environment with extensive climbing and lifting required. Employees will work in shifts, including late or early hours, weekends, and overtime.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smithville, Georgia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr.
