Job Summary
Reporting to the Track Supervisor, the Foreman is responsible for managing and directing a crew of workers to successfully complete day-to-day tasks by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals for safety, quality, profitability and schedule, resulting in extreme customer satisfaction.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Embrace and promote our safety culture while adhering to industry and company policies and procedures.
Pre-plan work activities with Track Supervisor to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans and track protection requirements.
Review the work site on a minimum daily basis and consults with Supervisor and or contractors representative to understand work being conducted, and any potential hazards.
Communicate and document through task specific Job Briefings.
Takes responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and following company policies and procedures. Initiates follow up action as necessary including training, orientation, mentoring, discipline, etc.
Conduct task specific Job Briefings daily with crew to review track protection, production goals, performance feedback, safety and schedule, hazards, and to solicit feedback from the workers.
Responsibly operates company vehicles and ensures all daily maintenance and inspections of the units are completed.
Always maintains a dedication to safety by modeling, providing education and enforcing safe work practices and company policies and procedures.
Communicates with customer and ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.
Communicates with contractors or sub-contractors to coordinate work, goals, etc.
Performs any administrative duties related to proper documentation as per PNR Quality Management System.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Trains and motivates workers.
Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as production reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, and updating project files.
Performs other related administrative or project-based duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years related experience in the railway industry.
Knowledge of all aspects of track construction and maintenance.
Track Inspection Guidelines certification.
Certified in Canadian Railway Operating Rules.
Ability to read and understand specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans and specifications.
Ability to work in a safety sensitive position directing work groups on live railway corridors.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards, railway engineering safety regulations and safety precautions of the work being performed.
Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to crew.
Must have a valid Ontario class G driver’s license. Additional Class DZ an asset.
Physical Requirements
Works outdoors at construction sites.
Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds.
Exposed to all weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
Exposed to loud noise.
Exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
Ability to work rotating shifts.
